This film is about the story of 11 year old Anna Fitzgerald, conceived to be a donor for her leukemia-stricken sister, but who finally demands the right to control her own body. This act of free will may tear the Fitzgeralds apart, or it may be the first step to a triumphant realization of devotion, dignity and what it means to be a family.
Costume: casual everyday clothes to show there just a normal family, but without knowing all the problems they have.
Lighting: daylight as its set in the daytime, and high key lighting to try and set a happy mood when problems start showing.
Actors: just a normal family(mum sara, dad Brian, 2 girls Kate and Anna and brother Jesse)
Make up: its all natural, to show that girls dont need make up to be beautiful.
Props: there isnt any that are used in the opening 2 minutes.
Setting: there isnt really a specific place where its set, as its a home video being shown. But it could be that the film is set on the memories of the family from the home video.
Editing: straight cuts, going from one memory onto the other.
Camera: Mid shot right at the start to show the main protagonist, and then all long shots in the slideshow to get all the person into the shot.
Sound: Non diagetic - the melancholic music playing in the background and the protagonist Anna who is the narrator. Diagetic - the birds tweeting in the background of the slideshow.
Marley and Me!
This film is all about a couple that are married and are contemplating the life changing decision on whether to have a baby. The comes along Marley, an rambunctious Labrador puppy. Ultimatley John and Jenny come to realise that the worlds worst dog truly brings out the best in them.
Costume: smart, suit and wedding dress when the flashback of the wedding is shown. Other than that just casual everyday clothes.Lighting: daylight when its showing now, and when the flashbacks happen its all dark and low key lighting.
Actors: Jenny and John Grogan, married couple.
Make-up: lot of eye make up when its flashbacks to the wedding, other than that doesnt really waer a lot, more natural make up very minimal if anything.
Props: the stick for the dog, the dog leash, and the wine bottle when there are flashbacks to the wedding.
Setting: at the start of the film, its set in a field so we are introduced to the main protagonist, Marley the dog.
Editing: straight cuts to show one scene and then the next, and also match cuts to show when Marley is causing chaos.
Camera: mainly all long shots to introduce the main characters and then some close ups of the face to show the emotion of the characters.
Sound: Non diagetic - narrating from John to tell the story before they got Marley, and slow peaceful music until Marley starts causing chaos and it suddenly changes to more upbeat fast paced music.
Diagetic - the dog barking, the actors talking, and the swishing of the feet in the bath tub when the flashbacks go back to the day of the wedding.
Also at the start there are opening credits from 20th century fox.
Mamma Mia!
This film is about bride to be sophie who is on a quest to find her father before her big day. There is just one problem, shes not sure who he is. After secretly reading her mother Donna's old diaries, she discovers he is one of three past loves. Knowing her mother would not approve, she invites them all. Sophie desperatley tries to keep there presence hidden but its not long before the secret is out and all the fun begins.
Costume: The protagonist Sophie is wearing a white dress which could portray her innocence and beauty. The three blokes that could be her father are all wearing there work clothes and everyday clothes to show that they are everyday people.
Lighting: When you are first introduced to the film its at night so there is dark, low key lighting which could suggest that the next day something exciting is going to happen, and when its in the day time its high key lighting.
Actors: The young girl Sophie who is the bride to be, and the three blokes that could be her father, Sam Carmichael, Bill Anderson and Harry Bright.
Make-up: Its just Sophie who wears the make up, and she is only wearing a minimal amount to show that girls can be naturally pretty.
Props: The boat sailing across the water, the three letters that Sophie sends right at the start, her mothers diary in which she reads all her past memories, the bike and the car in which we see Bill and Harry, and the boat that sets the whole scene and film.
Setting: We first see the whole city lit up at night by all the bright lights from the boat then when we are introduced to the three different blokes that could be Sophie's father we are in three different cities.
Editing: There is a cutaway onto the water and then back to the protagonist to show that her wish is somewhere out there, and just straight cuts cutting from one scene onto the next.
Camera: Establishing shot right at the start to establish where the whole film is going to be set, Long shot of the main protagonist Sophie, to show what she looks like, mid shot of her when she's putting the letters into the postbox, and then a close up of her face when shes finished posting the letters so we can see the emotions on her face, and also there is a close up of Bill's knee to show his tattoo as it is the one distinct thing that Donna remembers about him.
Sound: Non Diagetic - the peaceful and slow tempo music as the boat slowly glides over the water and it gradually builds up to show that something is going to happen. Also there is the main protagonist singing.
Diagetic - the water crashing agaisnt the boat as it glides closer and closer to the mainland, the actors talking, the dogs barking and the birds tweeting as Sophie posts the letters.Also before the film starts we see the opening credits.
