Character development

Who will play them? and why?
Hayley Jacklin will play our main character Scarlett Coles because she is a good actor and she is someone that we can trust to play our main character as she is going to be dedicated and determined and work to her best ability. 
Tom Manson will play our other main character Tom Smith because we have asked the drama department who is a good male actor and his name was mentioned as the best person for the job and he is also a very serious actor and will be someone who is dedicated to working hard.
What is the character like? and why?
Scarlett - Our main character is just a normal girl, who lives an ordinary life. She's quite an ambitious person and determined to work her way up to the top. Her character portrayal would be a happy character until her world is turned upside down, when she then becomes a shadow of the person that she used to be. We are going to portray her as a normal person because then it shows that its not just certain people that can get the illness, it could happen to anyone.
Tom - Our other main character is just a normal everyday guy who lives an everyday life. With a job, house and loving girlfriend that has a secret to hide. Like Scarlett he's an ambitious person who is determined to work his way to the top of the rank at work. We are portraying him as a normal person to show that he is no different to Scarlett. If we portrayed him as a character that is different to Scarlett it wouldn't go with romance conventions.
What will they look like? and why?
Scarlett - She will look like a normal everyday girl. Wearing only a slight bit of make up because she is dying and in her final days it shows that make up is not important, and that girls can be naturally beautiful without hiding behind layers of make up. Her clothes will be quite light and white to show her purity and innocence, as she's dying because its not her fault, because she's dying her hair will be loose and down because the only thing that is important is whether she will recover from her illness or not. If we put her covered in make up and really nice clothes, the audience wouldn't be able to put any answers to any questions that may be uncovered in the first minute or so and we want the audience to think what is going to happen to her. 
Tom - He will look like a normal everyday guy because him and Scarlett are just an everyday couple. He will be wearing no make up to show that he's a real man and the tough side of him will show through and in contrast to that his soft side will be showed throughout the 2 minutes. To show that he is a everyday character he will be dressed in normal clothes for example jeans and a hoody with white trainers which will show through his characteristics to be pure and innocence like Scarlett. His hair will be scruffy and not covered in gel to show that he doesn't need to be covered in fake to look good.
