History of the romantic genre

Romantic movies have a long history which has started since the 1890's and so has been going 121 years. Romantic movies which were produced from the 1920's to the 1950's often show painful love which means the main character doesnt always realise true love until the end of the film. Romance films are love stories, affairs of the heart that centre on passion, emotion and affectionate involvement of the main characters and the journey that their relationship takes facing many obstacles throughout the film. Many romantic films do not have fairy tale, wistful-thinking stories or happy endings although love serves a shield against the harshness of the real world.
